Kinship Workshop returns to the Isle of Bute after last year’s successful first outing there (see the 2024 Round- up & Review for some highlights). Bute is easily reached from Glasgow via train to Wemyss Bay, then a short ferry ride over to the island.
Bute is a gem of an island in the Firth of Clyde, sandwiched between the mainland and the enigmatic island of Arran which can be seen from Bute’s West coast. We will be based in the small village of Kilchattan Bay in the south of the island where we will venture out along coastal paths and into surrounding farmland and small forests.
We will hike to various sites, enjoy foraged foods, gather around a fire one evening (weather permitting!) as well as follow Kinship Workshop’s embodied nature connection practices throughout the weekend. Please have a look at the What To Expect page for more information on the general format of a Kinship Workshop.
This is a 3 day workshop running from Friday morning to Sunday afternoon.
ACCESS: Throughout the workshop, we’ll be using uneven gravel and earth tracks as well as going off track completely. We will hike between sites walking up to about 60 minutes at a time. The terrain is changeable with some steep hills, deep valleys and rocky coastlines.
There is free parking at most places on the island if you are planning to drive over to the island.
There are toilets located in Kilchattan Bay, but there are no facilities beyond this point. Please bring a packed lunch, snacks and water each day as there are no shops close to the sites we will visit. We will eat lunch outdoors.
