18 &19 July 2026 – TREES, ROCKS, WATER: Movement Practice in Landscape – Hebden Bridge

Working with curiosity and respect for all beings, Poh-Eng and Katye offer rich movement practices that support deepening connection to forest and moorland landscapes.

Overview:

This embodied movement workshop guides participants through practices that deepen connection with the living world.

Working on Moorland on one day and in Forest close to a River on another, participants will be guided through approaches to movement practice in connection to the rock, trees, grassland and rivers. Katye and Poh-Eng will draw on experiential anatomy, non-stylised movement, Qi Gong, nervous system regulation and their combined 60+ years of dance and movement practice!

No movement experience necessary to join this workshop.

Workshop facilitators:

Katye Coe

Katye has been facilitating with Kinship Workshop since 2018. Katye is a facilitator, teacher and performer with over 25 years of experience working collaboratively in the UK and internationally (www.katyecoe.org). Katye is a certified Somatic Experiencing practitioner, a Skinner Releasing Technique teacher and has completed 4 years of environmental movement work in Helen Poynor’s Walk of Life Programme.
Katye grew up on a farm in Kent and later worked extensively alongside horses. Her intention in the context of Kinship Workshop relates to the importance of negotiating how humans live alongside the many other living beings we share this world with.

Poh-Eng San

Poh-Eng is a an alternative health practitioner of BuqiTherapy and plant spirit medicine working in health clinics in Stroud, Bristol, Swansea and now Sheffield. She has taught taijiwuxigong with sound and movement for over 20 years both out in the landscape as well as in the studio, and often runs courses and workshops in Wales and England. She trained as a doula with Kate Woods and works voluntarily with Doulas Without Borders.

Poh-Eng is also a freelance movement practitioner and performer and has an MA in Dance and Somatic Wellbeing from the University of Central Lancashire (2019). She runs a weekly somatic movement class and weekend workshops in the Peak District as well as a monthly Dance Improvisation And Musicians Collective Collaboration in Sheffield. (www.pohengsan.com)

She has also worked extensively with Helen Poynor including the Walk of Life 2022 mentorship certification.

Old Town, Wandsworth, Hebden Bridge 

With easy connections to Manchester, Leeds, Halifax, Preston and York

Public transport – train to Hebden Bridge then a local bus ride (595)/ a 40-minute walk to Old Town.

Schedule:

Saturday & Sunday 10am-5pm.

Access:

We’ll meet each day either at Wainsgate Chapel up in Old Town (which is a local bus ride from Hebden Bridge (595)/ a 40-minute walk from Hebden Bridge station), or we will agree a meeting place in the surrounding area. There is free parking at most of the places we will visit.

We’ll be using gravel and earth tracks as well as going off path completely. We will hike between sites walking from about 20-45 minutes at a time. The terrain is changeable with steep hills and deep valleys.

There are toilets located at Wainsgate Chapel, but there are no facilities beyond this point. Please bring a packed lunch each day as there are very limited food options and we will eat outdoors.

We use a tiered pricing structure to enable those with a range of circumstances to access this work. Please consider which tier is most appropriate for your income. We trust that you will read the tier descriptions below to ensure you pay a fair price for your circumstances.

Tier 1 – Please choose this tier if you frequently worry about money, are coping with debt, and struggle to pay monthly essential bills.

Tier 2 – Please choose this tier if you have a fairly stable income, you need to take care with your spending, but can sometimes plan ahead or save for new purchases, holidays etc.

Tier 3 – Please choose this tier if you are financially comfortable, can afford to save or invest money regularly, can afford new purchases, holidays etc.
