Welcome.
Kinship Workshop is a seasonal programme of workshops taking groups of participants out into wilder landscapes to spend unhurried time in and as part of nature. We explore connection to land and other living beings through embodiment exercises.
This involves exposure to weather and varied environments as well as the challenges that can arise from this potent combination!
At its heart, Kinship Workshop holds a gentle but steady activist intention towards regenerating kinship with all life in all its forms for the benefit of all, including humans.
See our ABOUT page for a little more on this.
Meet co-facilitators Tom and Katye

Tom and Katye co-facilitate Kinship Workshop. We have over 30 years of combined experience leading, teaching and holding space for individuals and groups. Tom initiated Kinship Workshop in 2016 and Katye began co-facilitating with Tom in 2018
We both have a background in contemporary movement and dance practice, specialising in grounded, body-based ways of relating to oneself and the world. We have varied trainings in somatic movement techniques and outdoor movement training including Helen Poynor’s Walk of Life Programme.
We both draw from our experiences of spending time with other animals in sanctuaries and through wild and domestic encounters.
Katye is a registered therapist in Somatic Experiencing, a pioneering body based talking therapy capable of relieving physical, emotional and psychological shock, stress and trauma.
Tom is in training to be a Certified Movement Analyst and Somatic Practitioner.

What people say…
It was so reassuring to be in the presence of the stoic wisdom of the Beech trees… The invitation to surrender to the slow-time of the forest was received with a deep outbreath in my body. To respond to and be in relationship with land, birds, trees and each other from this subtle quiet place was a delicious feast for the senses.
Tom and Katye hold space with loving permission and gentle encouragement to explore, in keeping with the trees themselves.
– Sara
…it was a truly moving experience. I really appreciated the language that was used for the facilitation, how simple and gentle it was but also never too fluffy or much, and that is a delicate balance to strike…
– Munira
Tom and Katye are really skilled at creating the conditions to slow down and rest… They also work from a deep respect for the land we live in, and as I deliberately paid attention to the land in the way they encouraged, I felt very happy and peaceful in a way that is difficult to describe.
– Ruby
