KINSHIP returns to Hebden Bridge, a 2-day weekend workshop exploring the Upper Calder Valley, West Yorkshire.

From our meeting point at Wainsgate Chapel in Old Town, Hebden Bridge – home of Wainsgate Dances (curated and organised by Charlie Morrissey and Rob Hopper) we intend to spend the whole weekend out of doors, up on the moors or by the river. After introductions and a warm-up circle, we’ll spend each day exploring our relationship to place through sensing, moving and reflection.
Please have a look at the What To Expect page for more information on the general format of a Kinship Workshop.

We will run the workshop with some special alterations to help people feel at ease during the pandemic by following current guidelines on social distancing, and providing individuals with further options if needed. We’ll keep an eye on changes to government guidelines and adapt or adjust as and when new guidelines are put in place. Before the workshop there will be a detailed information email that explains the plan for the weekend taking into consideration any restrictions.

ACCESS: We’ll meet each day at Wainsgate Chapel up in Old Town, Hebden Bridge, which is a local bus ride away (595), or about a 40-minute walk from Hebden Bridge station.
There is also some parking available near to Wainsgate Chapel. Once we leave the Chapel, we’ll be using gravel and earth tracks as well as going off path completely. We will hike between sites walking from about 20-45 minutes at a time. The terrain is changeable with steep hills and deep valleys.
There are toilets located at Wainsgate Chapel, but there are no facilities beyond this point. Please bring a packed lunch each day as there are very limited options close to the Chapel and we will most likely also eat outdoors.
